EXTERIOR

One of the first things that I knew I had to do after I got my 4Runner was to change the tan Limited trim to Sunfire Red to match the rest of the body panels. That's not an easy or inexpensive thing to do, but one that I was determined to make happen.

-- TO --

The change from the two-toned Limited paint scheme to the all-sunfire-red look really made a huge difference in the appearance. At the same time, I added a Scooped Hood and Color-matched Grill from a 2002 Sport Edition 4Runner. This, along with the ARB Sahara Bar really helps it to stand apart from the crowd. With the addition of the Scooped Hood and Red Grill, it actually ended up looking almost exactly like a 2002 Sport Edition.

That's not necessarily a bad thing in my book. I really like the way the monochromatic paint scheme worked out. While I was painting the Sport Hood, ARB Bumper, and the rest of the Limited Cladding, I decided to finish it off by painting the License Plate Garnish to match. This really cleaned up the look from the rear. I later added some 2002 Tail Lights for a more updated look.

The next thing on my list of things to get done is a Custom Rear Bumper. I ended up building it myself and integrated a swing-out tire carrier into the design. The design was somewhat a mixture of these bumpers.

And here's my conceptual design of what I designed with Autocad before building the bumper:
